I’ve got blisters on my fingers from sifting– and it ain’t over yet. This is still day two. I’m beat.

Thankfully, when The Husband is home, I can’t forget to do things like eat. Or take a break. He makes sure I do that. left to my own devices I might never stop– the Jenn-o-matic 4-limbed baking contraption. The mixer is still acting out, in it’s death throes so there are forced breaks this year, while the mixer cools down and learns to act like a civilized person.

Still, even with The Husband helping, I still feel like I didn’t accomplish that much. That’s the problem with sugar cookies. There are so many steps before you can bag them up. Thankfully, I piped all the edging last night so I just had to flood. It’s been a collection of first-world problems for me so far. I remembered to get every color of edible glitter, food coloring and luster dust except for the green and red. WTF. So I’m out of Juniper (my fave dark green gel color) and I had to color match using all these other greens, black and yellow. I have never been so glad that I know about CMYK than I am today.

The Husband took over with doing the oven tango–keeping 4 pans turning for me–so he’s made up a bit for his day 1 scavenger hunt. A part of me doesn’t want to admit it but my heart just isn’t in it this year. Maybe it’s that Azuki is missing from the equation, and I notice her gone every time I drop a cookie on the floor. Maybe it’s just that Christmas caught up to me too fast this year, and I feel that despite all my grand plans, I’m unprepared to be doing what I am doing right now. Whatever the case may be, it’s going to take a lot to get me there this year.

I have hope though. If anything in the world can get me into the holiday spirit, it’s making others happy with sugary goodness. Well, there’s a fork in day 2. I’m done!

g’night!

Start Time: 1:30 pm Stop Time: 4:20 am Goal: 20 types of cookies, packaged, wrapped &
